William "Bill" Halley King

San Angelo

William “Bill” Halley King, 86, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025, after a courageous battle.

Born on December 24, 1938, in the Blanton community of Runnels County, Texas, to Carl E. and Lizzie (Wade) King, Bill was the youngest of eight boys. He worked at GTE for over 35 years and also enjoyed many decades of farming. In retirement, Bill developed a deep passion for genealogy and found great joy in connecting with family descendants and learning their stories.

Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn Francis (Helton) King, who passed in 1981, and his second wife, Marydith (George) King, who passed in 2003. He was also preceded in death by his son, Terry William King; his parents; and all seven of his brothers: Tom, Jack, Lloyd, James, Milford, Marell, and Wayne.

He is survived by his loving partner, Gayla Smith of San Angelo; his daughter, Cheryl (Keith) Fleming of San Angelo; his son, Keith (Lea Ann) King of San Angelo; and several grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger, Texas. Graveside services will take place on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Old Runnels Cemetery, with Tony King officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Willingham, Kelly King, Scott King, Carl King, Clifford King, and Gary King.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of San Angelo, as well as the numerous caregivers at Meadow Creek Nursing & Rehabilitation, for their compassionate care during Bill’s final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to Hospice of San Angelo.
