Wilbert Emil Halfmann, 83, of Olfen passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, in San Angelo.
Wilbert was born on May 30, 1942 in Orange Grove, Texas, to Anton and Alice (Schrade) Halfmann. In 1945, Wilbert’s family moved to Olfen, Texas. After graduating in 1960 from St. Joseph’s Catholic School, Rowena, he proudly served in the Army National Guard. On October 22, 1966, he married Melva Jean Braden in Saint Lawrence, Texas.
Wilbert and his wife, Melva, lived in San Angelo, Rowena, and Olfen, Texas, throughout their 59 years of marriage. He was employed by Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation for 26 years and spent much of his life farming in the Olfen Community. He was a member of the Saint Boniface Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He loved fishing, farming, singing in the church choir, and watching old westerns.
Wilbert is survived by his wife, Melva; their children, Tammy (Bill) Morris, Emily (Marc) Howell, Amy (Ken) Fischer, Becky (Douglas Lissade) Wiseman, and Toby (Bonnie) Halfmann; their grandchildren, Luke Morris, Ryan Morris, and Sarah Morris, Beth (Ryan) Kirk, Jennifer Howell, and Amanda (David Hisaw) Howell, Matt (Dreau) Fischer, Jeremy Fischer, and Rusty Fischer, Astra Wiseman and William Wiseman, and Kiara Halfmann; their great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Kirk, Oliver Kirk, McKenzie Hisaw, Elena Fischer and Erika Fischer. Additionally, he is survived by his sisters, Vernell Kleypas, Joyce Braden, and Dorothy Bolen, his sisters-in-law Waldeen Halfmann, Debbie Braden, and Marilyn (Dalton) Moeller, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Anton and Alice Halfmann; in-laws, Melvin and Lorine Braden; Brother, Hilmer Halfmann; Brothers-in-law, Erwin Kleypas, Jerry Bolen, Alton Braden, and Arnold Braden; and nephew, Randy Bolen.
A rosary will be said for Wilbert on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 9:30 am at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Olfen, Texas. His Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately after at 10:00 am, also at St. Boniface Church with Father Ariel Lagunilla celebrating. Interment will follow at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Olfen, Texas.
