Susan Gail Ruppert

July 27, 1950 — March 18, 2024

Susan (Sue) Ruppert, age 73, died Monday, March 18, 2024, at home in San Angelo, TX, surrounded by her loving family.  Susan was born July 27, 1950, in Fargo, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Byron and June Matson, and her father and mother-in-law, Earl and Ruby Ruppert.

She is survived by her husband Bradley; children Shane (Tara Dennis) Ruppert, and Melissa (Travis) Long of San Angelo; grandchildren Caitlyn (Javier San Juan) Ruppert, Noah Steckling, and Samara Jones; and great-grandchildren Jayden, Erianna, Jayleah, Javier and Steven; and devoted dog Barley; siblings Judi (Steve) Dahlgren, Steve (Marci) Matson, and Shelly (Luke) Reich.

Susan married Bradley Ruppert of Avoca, Minnesota, in 1970.  They were married for 53 years, raising their children and making homes in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, California, and Texas.

Susan graduated from Fargo North High School in 1968 and received her associate degree in practical nursing from North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND in 1970.  Susan was employed as a nurse throughout her life until retirement.  She cherished time spent with her family and was a consummate caregiver and counselor, always befriending and nurturing those who needed her.  She loved cooking and creating a beautiful home for her family; and was an avid reader.  Susan adored her dogs who loved her back and considered her “their” person.  She enjoyed accompanying her husband Brad on his trucking routes -- it gave her a chance to travel throughout the country.  She had an abiding Christian faith that sustained her in meeting life’s challenges.  Her family will remember always her intelligent understanding, love, warmth, and optimistic spirit. They are grateful for her life and her beautiful presence that will continue on in their hearts.

The family would like to thank the staff of Concho Hearts Hospice of San Angelo who gave Sue such loving and wonderful care.  Her family and friends will celebrate her life at a gathering in the near future, in accordance with her wishes.
