Rosa Linda De La Cerda, 70, of Ballinger, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and loved ones on Sunday, October 10, 2021.
She was born on Wednesday, January 31, 1951, to Lorenzo and Andrea Salazar in Ballinger, Texas. In August of 1967, she married the love of her life, Jesse Phillip De La Cerda. Rosa worked for Ballinger Independent School District until her retirement. She served the community in many ways, through her church and through her work at the school, and with Meals on Wheels. Rosa was a member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, and while she was not an actual member of the Guadalupanas she helped them every single chance she could. Rosa loved to dance, to all kinds of music. She organized huge meals and made each one with love from menudo to tamales and gorditas. Having company over was her favorite thing. Above all things, Rosa loved her son and her family.
Rosa is preceded in death by her father Lorenzo Salazar, and her husband Jesse De La Cerda, granddaughter Cori De La Cerda, and brothers Antonio Salazar, Raymundo Salazar, Robert Salazar, Jerry Salazar.
She is survived by her son Clifford and wife Daniela De La Cerda of San Angelo, granddaughters Cassandra and husband Edward Daniels of Abilene, Celeste and husband Jovany Velazquez of Springfield, OR. And Bethany Molina of San Angelo. She is also survived by her Brother and Sisters all from Brownwood; Dee Salazar, Lorenzo Jr. and wife Oralia Salazar, Alex and wife Letica Salazar, Juan Salazar, Mary Ramirez, Donna and husband Rafael Renteria, Ruben and wife Lupe Salazar, and Micheal Salazar and wife Elena Vasquez; her great-grandkids Kathleen Daniels, Daemon Daniels, Alexander Daniels, Edwin Daniels, Ilyana Velazquez, Alyah Velazquez, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A rosary will be held for Rosa on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at 6:00 pm, at the chapel at Lange Funeral Home, her Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday, October 15, 2021, at 10:00 am at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ballinger, with Father Yesu Mulakaleti celebrating. Interment will be at the Latin American Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank all of her close friends for all the support and unconditional love that was given to her, and Ballinger Home Health and Hospice for the excellent service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Latin American Cemetery Association in Rosa’s name.
