Norberta O. Cavazos

Jun 5, 1938 — Jun 24, 2026

Ballinger, Texas

With profound love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Norberta O. Cavazos, who entered eternal rest at the age of 88.

Born on June 5, 1938, Norberta spent her entire life in Ballinger, Texas, the community she loved and called home. Though she stood only 4 feet 6 inches tall, she was the strongest woman we have ever known. Her strength was not measured by stature but by the size of her heart, the depth of her faith, and the unconditional love she gave so freely to everyone around her.

Norberta devoted her entire life to her family. As the mother of nine children—six daughters and three sons—and stepmother to nine additional children, she made it her life's mission to ensure her family was always well-fed, cared for, clean, and, above all, deeply loved. Family was everything to her, and she raised her children to love one another, remain close, and cherish the bonds of family.

She was a loving grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother to dozens of children who will forever treasure her warmth, wisdom, and endless affection. There was never a person she met who did not experience her love and kindness. She extended compassion and acceptance to everyone and demonstrated that love each and every day of her life. She was known for telling everyone, "Te quiero mucho, mucho," words that beautifully reflected the way she lived—loving deeply and giving freely of herself to everyone around her.

Norberta possessed a wonderful and funny personality that brought joy to those around her. She loved to laugh, enjoyed a little sparkle and bling, and had a way of making people feel special and welcome. Her legacy is one of unconditional love, unwavering faith, and devotion to family.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Norberta's Catholic faith could move mountains. She was a devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and served as a Guadalupana in her earlier years. Her faith guided her through every season of life and was the foundation upon which she built her family and lived her life.

Norberta was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 33 years, Domingo Cavazos, Sr.; her cherished daughter, Irene Cavazos Sauceda; and all of her stepchildren except Beatrice Sanchez.

She leaves behind her loving children and their spouses: Beatrice Sanchez of Winters; Lydia Medrano of Ballinger; Mary Sanchez and husband Sammy Sanchez of Winters; Amelia Puente of Corpus Christi; Ramon Cavazos and wife Cathy Cavazos of Ballinger; Tony Cavazos of Ballinger; Gilbert Cavazos and wife Tawnee Cavazos of Ballinger; Bertha Urban and husband Jesse Urban of Pflugerville; and Linda Tucker and husband Andreas Tucker of Lantana.

A rosary will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 6:00 pm at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger, Texas. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following day on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 10:00 am at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ballinger, Texas, with Father Hilary Ihedioha celebrating.

While our hearts grieve the loss of our beloved mother, grandmother, and matriarch, we rejoice in knowing that she is now at peace and reunited with those who have gone before her. Her love lives on in the family she nurtured, the faith she instilled, and the countless lives she touched.

A tiny woman with an enormous heart, Norberta O. Cavazos leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, strength, and family that will continue for generations to come.
