Margaret “Margie” Sophie (Beach) Zentner, 95, of Rowena, Texas went peacefully to her heavenly home on Sunday, September 29, 2024.
She was born on November 12, 1928, to Eugene and Marie Beach in Oenaville, Texas. Margie, with her eight siblings, worked on the farm and attended school and church in Westphalia, Texas until she was nine when her family moved to Rowena, Texas. Margie graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School, where she met the love of her life Tony Zentner. The couple married on February 9, 1950, in Rowena, Texas at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Margie and Tony made their home in Rowena with their three children and enjoyed 57 beautiful and loving years together.
From early on in life, Margie was very hardworking and dedicated to helping provide for her family. She began doing clerical work and waitressing for her father-in-law at Zentner’s Steak House and then moved on to work in the St. Joseph Catholic School cafeteria until its closing, at which time she transitioned into a position at Lange Drilling until her retirement. After retiring, she and Tony loved to travel to Nevada together, spend time cook/baking, and taking care of their thriving plants and yard.
Margie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She had a servant’s heart and gentle spirit that she shared with her community, church and family. Margie was very involved in the St. Joseph Catholic Church as a member of the choir, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, member of the St. Ann’s Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters, as well as an active member of the lady’s group of the VFW.
Throughout her lifetime, Margie was an excellent cook, avid reader, loved to crochet, quilt and sew. She shared her many talents with her family by dedicating time teaching her children and grandchildren how to sew and cook. She loved her family fiercely. Family gatherings at the Zentner house were Margie’s favorite. She loved spending time with her family, cooking meals for a full house, watching Tony’s beloved Cowboys along with the Fighting Texas Aggies, and playing dominoes together.
Margie is survived by her loving children, Jennifer Bollier of Harker Heights, Texas, Phyllis (Jim) Prendergast of Livingston, Texas, Mark (Pennye) Zentner of Rowena, Texas, sister, Anna Marie Haechten of Odessa, Texas, sister-in-law Grace Beach of Rowena, Texas, her grandchildren Matthew Watts, Toby (Amber) Bollier, Kelly (Griffin) Fields, Travis Halfmann, Kelci (Landon) McCall, Paige (Seth) Riddle, Cole Zentner and her 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and one on the way.
