Lucille Amelia Droll Halfmann 99 of Eola, Texas passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 28, 2025 in her home in Eola, Texas.
She was born on May 24, 1926 to William and Freda (Glass) Droll in Rowena, Texas. Lucille graduated high school in 1944 from St. Joseph's Catholic School in Rowena. She married Norbert Henry Halfmann on June 4, 1946 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rowena. She and Norbert were lifelong farmers and ranchers in Concho and Tom Green counties.
Lucille was active in the St. Philips Catholic Church in Eola, which they helped to establish and where she taught religious education classes, was a member of the Altar Society in which she held all of the offices several times. She was a talented seamstress and quilter making all of her daughters wedding dresses. Winning Best of Show with one of them at the San Angelo Creative Arts competition. In 2014 she was honored by the Concho County Soil and Water Conservation District as the Conservation Rancher of the year.
Lucille is survived by her children Peggie (Danny) Hoelscher, June Garrett, Janice (Richard) Holder, Nancy (Alan) Smith and Judy(Mark) Gully. Her grandchildren Kiley (Tish) Miller, Whitney(Rick) Vela, Zeb (Angela) Baird, Andy (Rachel), Baird, Kenneth Holder, Lisa (Brian) Worrall, Dawn (Cameron) Worrall), Jennifer Killam and Eric (Kaci) Gully. She is also survived by 25 great grand children and 5 great great grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister Dorothy Hirt and sister-law Mary Lou Multer.
She is preceded in death by her parents William and Freda Droll, her husband Norbert Halfmann, brothers Harvey (Sidona) Droll, Carl Droll, Billy (Wanda) Droll, sisters Ethel (Dutch) Weishuhn, Jean (Bernaard) Hirt, brothers-in-law Eugene Hirt, Erwin (Doris) Halfmann, Alred Multer, sisters-in-law Agnes (Arnold) Fuchs Lydia Halfmann, Dorine (Maurice) Moeller. Son-in-law Jay Garrett. Grandson Jacob Baird and granddaughter Michelle Killam.
A rosary will be held for Lucille on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 6:30 pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rowena, Texas. Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 10:00 am, also at St. Joseph’s. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, also in Rowena.
