Lewis Alvin Van Zant Jr., 67, of Norton, Texas, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2020, at Abilene Regional Medical Center.
Lewis was born on Tuesday, October 14, 1952, to Lewis and Helen (Riley) Van Zant in San Angelo, Texas. He served honorably in the United States Military as a part of the 96 th Civil Engineer Squadron SAC in the Air Force until December of 1974. He married the love of his life, Sandra Glenn, on May 3, 2000, at a little chapel in Reno, Nevada. Lewis was a member of Grace Fellowship Church, a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the American Legion, Post 8. He loved many things but especially building metal buildings, hunting, fishing, and camping, dancing, playing guitar and drums, and his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Helen Van Zant, and his sister Brenda Pilkington.
Lewis is survived by his wife Sandra; sons Deric Van Zant of Christoval, Trey Van Zant of Ft. Worth, Winston Cave of Austin, and Sam Poe and wife Melanie of Moody, Alabama; his daughter Natalie Adamson and husband Alan of San Angelo; his sister Jo Fiest of San Angelo; mother-in-law Joyce Glenn of Kerrville, sister-in-law Brenda Craig and husband Bill of Kerrville; cousins Tommy Van Zant and wife Sheila of Brady and Irene Hogan and husband Dennis of Arizona and his two nieces Janice Early and husband Zak of Burnet, and Delinda Gizzi and husband Pete of Sweetwater. He will also be remembered by his grandchildren Karson and Connor Poe, one great-grandchild and many friends.

A memorial service will be held on September 26, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Fellowship Church in Ballinger, Texas. Interment will be on September 28, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, Texas.
