Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Laura Ann Dickson Vancil, 63, of Ballinger, Texas, left this world for a better place on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
She was born on Tuesday, April 23, 1963, to William Henry and Beulah (Foster) Dickson in Granite City, Illinois. Laura was a successful entrepreneur who owned and operated Laura Dickson Printing, where she poured her creativity, dedication, and strong work ethic into serving others. She took great pride in her work and the relationships she built throughout the years.
On May 22, 1999, Laura married the love of her life, Karl Wayne Vancil, in a beautiful ceremony at First Baptist Church in Ballinger, Texas. The ceremony was especially meaningful as it was officiated by her father. Together, Laura and Karl built a marriage founded on love, friendship, faith, and mutual respect. Whether traveling together, enjoying life's adventures, or working side by side in their ammunition business, they were truly best friends and faithful companions.
Laura's life was built upon a firm foundation of faith in Jesus Christ. Her relationship with the Lord guided her every step and was reflected in the kindness, grace, and humility she extended to everyone she met. She possessed a servant's heart and quietly demonstrated Christ's love through her actions, always placing others' needs before her own.
One of Laura's greatest gifts was her extraordinary musical talent. A remarkably accomplished, self-taught pianist, she had the rare ability to sit down at a piano and seemingly play anything with anyone. Her music was never about recognition or applause; it was an act of worship. Laura played with genuine emotion, heartfelt expression, and a humility that made her gift all the more remarkable. Through music, she glorified God and touched countless lives.
Above all else, Laura cherished her family, especially her grandchildren. They were the light of her life and brought her immeasurable joy. There was not a day that passed that they were not on her heart or in her prayers. She delighted in every moment spent with them, celebrating their accomplishments, encouraging their dreams, and showering them with unconditional love. Her grandchildren were truly everything to her.
Laura is preceded in death by her step daughter, Leigh Gayle Nadine Vancil.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her parents, William and Beulah Dickson, her husband, Karl Vancil, and their daughter, Ashley Landers, and her husband, Chad. She is also survived by her grandchildren: William Blake Landers, Kade Allen Landers, Tate James Landers, Grady Zane Landers, and Sage Elizabeth Landers; and her sister Debbie Mills and brother Trevor Dickson.
A memorial service will be held for Laura on July 1, 2026 at 11:00 am at the chapel at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger, Texas, with Lynn Smith officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Breast Cancer Research Association in Laura’s honor.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23. Laura's beautiful life was a testimony to God's grace, and while she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now at home with her Savior, whom she faithfully served throughout her life.
