Joan Wood Bradshaw, 86, of San Angelo, Texas passed away Friday, December 9, 2022, at the Robert Lee Care Center.
She was born on the Wood Family Farm, in Runnels County, on Thursday, February 27, 1936, to James Wesley and Jimmie Bertie (Smith) Wood.
Joan graduated from Ballinger High School, class of 1954. After graduation, she attended ASU, where she obtained her MBA and became a Lab Tech. She was a registered lab tech for over 55 years. Her specialty was pandemics and superbugs. She spent 35 years at Shannon Hospital, where she also taught. Joan was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ballinger, where her grandfather was a Founding Father. Later, she was a member of Saint Paul’s Presbyterian Church in San Angelo.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Wesley Wood and Billie Wood; sister, Eloise Brown, brother-in-law Earnest Brown, and brother, Lucius Wood.
She is survived by sons David Bradshaw, wife Cathleen of San Antonio; Charles Bradshaw of San Angelo; daughter Barbara Light, husband Doyle, of San Angelo; grandchildren, Matthew Johnson, wife Becky; Taylor Bradshaw; Wesley Mobley, wife Jamie; James Mobley; 7 great-grandchildren; special lifelong friends, Shirley and Brad Ellis of Lohn, Texas; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Old Runnels Cemetery, at 2:00 pm.
