Jennie Beth (Allen) Fulton

February 13, 1937 — August 31, 2023

Jennie Beth (Allen) Fulton was born February 13, 1937, in Lamesa, Texas to Pauline (Hester) Allen and Scott Allen.  She went home to her heavenly Father, on August 31, 2023.  Jennie married Melton Durant “Chief” Fulton, on February 4, 1956, in Lamesa, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her husband “Chief”, her brother Wes (Butch) Allen, and many other relatives that were dear to her.

She is survived by her son, Johnny Fulton; two daughters, Alice Boggess (Sam), and Jodie Halford ( Myron); seven grandchildren, Renee, Matthew, Brandon, Keith and wife Jessica, Mitchell (Kayla), Jessica (Trey), and John (Becca).  She is also survived by and adored her fifteen great-grandkids. Jennie also leaves behind her sisters, Fran Dyess, Betty Hallmark and husband Alvin, Shelia Allen and Kathy Allen, and long-time employee and her right hand, Stella Nombrano.

Family was the most important thing to Jennie and to her, this community was her family.

Jennie also loved being a big sister.  Playing cards at 80+ years old and way past her curfew was not an uncommon occurrence.  She helped carry on the tradition of our family reunions for many years, so everyone could share in the love she had for her siblings and their families.

As a mother, Jennie worked tirelessly to provide a better life for her and Chief’s three children.  No matter the event, she was present and cheering.  Her support did not stop with her kids but extended to their friends, and there was always a warm meal and open seat at her table.

As a grandmother, she provided an unconventional childhood to her grandkids, elevator rides at The Treadmill, shopping sprees for birthdays, and paintball guns at Christmas just to name a few.  She was built to be a Grandma and a fun one at that!

The only thing better than being one of Jennie’s grandkids was being one of her great-grandkids.  You couldn’t stop her from talking about her great-grandkids, and you better be ready to listen, and see a video or a week’s worth of pictures, if you stopped to visit with her.

Jennie loved Ballinger and everything it provided her and rewarded the town the same way she did her family.  You would be hard-pressed to find a youth sports league or a charity fundraiser that Jennie did not support.  The number of Lady Cat and Bearcat games she saw or listened to on the radio was astonishing.  She made sure if one of the Ballinger teams had a game or event out of town, they would have a send-off, providing balloons for all the merchants downtown to support our kids.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to any cause that benefits the good of Ballinger.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 4, 2023, at Glory Road Cowboy Church, at 10 a.m., with Myron Halford officiating.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
