Jeffrey “Jeff” Burke Rose, Sr., 69, of Miles, TX, went to his maker and those who passed before him on September 3, 2024, as the result of an accidental drowning on his ranch. Jeff, the son of Billy Lee Rose and Virginia “Jennie” (Butler) Rose was born in Seattle, WA in December 1954.
Jeff grew up all over the world due to his father’s naval career. He attended at least 10 schools in the following locations: Japan, Germany, Scotland, Maryland, New Jersey, and Texas. Soon after graduating from Misawa High School in Misawa, Japan, he enlisted in the United States Navy.
Jeff’s Naval career as a Senior Chief found him stationed primarily in the United States – Patuxent Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, MD; Naval Air Station S. Weymouth near Boston, MA; and former Naval Air Station Dallas. He deployed for Desert Shield/Desert Storm on Christmas Day, 1990. Jeff retired from the Navy after 20 years of service in 1992. During his second career in the private sector, Jeff worked at Raytheon, L3/Harris and other well-known aviation companies and retired from the private sector in January 2023.
Jeff Rose and Melinda Cook McDonald met in the spring of 2009 and resided in Fort Worth, TX until they moved to Runnels County, TX in August of 2021.
He is survived by the love of his life, Melinda, son Jeffrey Burke Rose, Jr, son Nathan Christopher Rose (Shannon Bailey), stepdaughter Kristen (Chris Sloan) stepdaughter Hailey (Clayton Binder) sister Kathy Rose-Ray (Billy Jordan Jr), niece Chelsea Ray, nephew Zach Ray; Aunt Dorothy (Carroll Smith) and Aunt Patsy (Gary Havenhill) and many wonderful cousins. Also surviving Jeff are all his beloved grandchildren – Daryn Rose, Cameron, Conner, and Kaitlynn Sloan; Kiley and Cutter Travis; Cassidy, Clete, and Kale Binder; Mason, Payton, Sophia, and Cason Bailey.
A visitation will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the chapel at Lange Funeral Home. His funeral service will follow at 2:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.
