James Edward Studer passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, at the age of 90, surrounded by his loved ones at his home in Ballinger, Texas.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on June 9, 1935, to John and Mary Studer.
He married the love of his life, Doris Mae Geary, in Vero Beach, Florida, on April 15, 1961. Jim will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Jim was a very active member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, where he was involved in the Altar Society and choir as well as the Knights of Columbus. He had a loving and charitable spirit and a deep love for his faith and family that showed in everything he did and in the many lives he touched.
Above all things, he loved God, his wife, and their family. Jim enjoyed rebuilding old Jeeps, the satisfaction of a job well done, being a good steward of the land, and starting and finishing projects. His happiest moments were being surrounded by those he loved.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Studer; his son, Michael Studer; his parents, John and Mary Studer; his sister, Rosemary; and his brothers Fran, Robert, Russell, John Arthur Jr., Richard, Donald, and Joseph.
He is survived by his children Edward (Kristen) Studer, Theresa (Bill) Hunter, Rita (Chris) Harman, Catherine Studer, Thomas (Carolyn) Studer, and Jean Zertuche. Jim will also be deeply missed by his 25 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and his brother, Paul Studer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ballinger Cares, Tunnel to Towers, Shriners Children’s, or the Pregnancy Help Center. The family also encourages acts of kindness, such as volunteering service hours at a local church or helping someone in need, reflecting the charitable spirit Jim lived by throughout his life.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
