Jackie Herring Kurtz

Jackie Herring Kurtz, a cherished mother, wife, sister, grandmother, and friend, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of those who meant so much to her.

Jackie was born on June 7, 1950, to Jack and Bonnie Herring of Norton, Texas. She was raised on her family’s ranch, where her family raised livestock and instilled in her the values of hard work, faith, family, and love.

Jackie found her greatest joy in her family, children, grandchildren, and friends. She loved each of them dearly and had a special way of making everyone feel loved and welcomed. She enjoyed listening to music and making jewelry, but her greatest treasure was the time she spent with the people she loved the most, her family and friends.

Jackie leaves behind a beautiful legacy of memories that will continue to bring smiles and comfort to all who knew her. To her family, she will forever be known as Mother, Grandma Jackie, Sister, and WaWa. To her beloved husband, Scott, she will forever be his true love.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, April Lynn Ledbetter; her parents, Jack and Bonnie Herring; her sister, Debbie Lynn Herring; and her paternal and maternal grandparents.

Jackie is survived by her loving husband, Scott Kurtz; daughter, Christie Hoelscher; son, Judd Shannon and fiancé Heather; brother, Jimmie Herring and wife Lynette; grandchildren Hunter and husband Keff, Jacob and fiancé Adriana, Tristen and fiancé Justin, Kelton, and Devon and wife Hannah; great-grandchildren Jade, Elijah, Maddon, and Sutton; niece Lacey; and nephew Jordan.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Ballinger Hospital, Ballinger Home Health and Hospice, and to Jackie’s “backyard friends,” whom she loved and considered family. A special thank you is extended to her newest friend, Joseph Buse, for the kindness and friendship he shared with Jackie.

A memorial service celebrating Jackie’s life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger, Texas. A private family service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Jackie’s memory.
