Ignacio Contreras

Ignacio Prado Contreras, 76, of Ballinger, Texas, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2019, at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo.

He was born February 1, 1943, in San Felipe, Mexico, to Federico and Concepcion (Prado) Contreras.  Ignacio married Albinia Balderas on August 6, 1964, in Mexico, and he proudly became a US citizen in 1999.  He worked as a general laborer in the Ballinger area.

Ignacio is survived by his wife, Albinia; his children, Antonio Contreras of California, Bernardino Contreras of Oklahoma, Alfonso Contreras of Maryland, Manuel Contreras of Dallas, Juan O. Contreras, Daniel Contreras, and Jose Contreras all of Ballinger, Margarita Contreras and Susana Contreras of San Felipe, Mexico, and Victoria Contreras of Dallas.  Also surviving are 22 grandchildren; and his brothers and sisters, Chauela Contreras of San Felipe, Antonio Contreras of Eldorado, Teresa Contreras and Saturnino Contreras of San Felipe, and Narciso Contreras of Ballinger.

Ignacio’s Rosary will be held at the chapel at Lange Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 23 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.  Mass will follow on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea in Ballinger.  Father Yesu Mulakaleti will officiate.
