Herb Bentrup, 64, returned to his heavenly home on October 22, 2019. His devotion to his family, friends, and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggles through life and ultimately gave him peace.
Herb was born on September 10, 1955, in Florence, Italy, to his late parents, Herbert Edward Sr. and Bernice Evelynn Bentrup. Herb was blessed with wonderful, loving, and caring family and friends. Over the course of his life, he served in the United States Army, 1st Calvary Division, from 1973-1982 and National Guard, from 1984-1990 Ballinger, TX, and was a devoted truck driver for J.B. Hunt for the remaining time of his life. Herb was highly dedicated to his work throughout his life, but his passion was being a loving and devoted husband and father, and making sure his family was set and worked himself to the bone to ensure his family had everything they needed. Herb, like his daughter Lindsey Bentrup, had a huge heart, and was kind and always had time for everyone, and would put others before himself. Herb was a fighter and has fought the last part of his life to spend it with his family. He always spoke of family, cherish them for you only have one.
Herb will be dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that his is at peace with his creator. Herb’s dying wishes would have been, to love and help one another, not hate or fight against one another, for the distant family and friends to grow closer together, and wouldn’t was us to cry for him but instead live for him.
Herb is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Mary Kathleen Bentrup; his wonderful loving children Eugene Weldon Bentrup, Nathan Lee Bentrup, Kristy Kay Bentrup, and Lauren Hogan; his daughter in laws Debra, and Carolina, and a son in law Slade Bonge; grandchildren Tristan and Michelle Bentrup, grandchildren, Audra and Cameron Fisher, grandchildren Nathan Axel Bentrup and Brandon Lee Bentrup, great-grandchildren Everleigh Leeann, Tatum Lee, Jacob Alexander, Alexander Edward Rea, and many more family and friends.
Herb was preceded in death by his father Herbert Edward Bentrup Sr.; daughter Lindsey Ann Bentrup; mother in law Sudie Ann Ueckert; great mother in law Unice Shellhouse; nephews Michael and Wesley Vogel; and niece Wendy Vogel.
Herb's life will be celebrated at a graveside service on Saturday, October 26th, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Lutheran Cemetery in Winters, Tx with Reverend Al Brakke officiating.
