Elvin Wayne Fleming, 91, formerly of Paint Rock, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018.
He was born February 20 1927 to William and Velma (Pemberton) Fleming in O’Donnell, Texas. He proudly served his country, during World War II, as a member of the United States Navy. Elvin married Vada Mae Summers on May 28, 1958. After 12 years raising his family in California he returned to his hometown of O’Donnell, he stayed here until his retirement, shortly after they moved to Paint rock and worked for the Boll Weevil Eradication program, due to illness they returned to O’Donnell to live out their lives.
Elvin is preceded in death by his wife, Vada; a son, William Lee Fleming; grandson Joseph (Joey) Martinez, his parents; and brothers, Dee Fleming and Ivan Fleming.
He is survived by his children, Sandra McPeters of Hobbs, NM, Sherry Rodriguez of O’Donnell, TX, Shellie Bairrington (Kelly) of Draw, TX, and James Fleming (Lori) of Burleson, TX.; 9 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the O’Donnell Fire Department.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 11 at the Texas State Veteran's Cemetery, 7457 W. Lake Road, Abilene, Texas.
