Elizabeth Granado Pineda

June 17, 1958 — August 22, 2025

San Angelo, Texas

Elizabeth Granado Pineda, a devoted caregiver, beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, at the Central Texas Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ballinger, Texas. She was 67 years old.

Born on June 17, 1958, in Marfa, Texas, Elizabeth, affectionately known as Liz was the daughter of Faustino Pineda III and Delia Granado. Her journey in education began at St. Mary’s Parochial School in Marfa, where she attended kindergarten and first grade. There, she was taught by her aunt, Irene Pineda, making her first school memories deeply personal and meaningful.

Liz graduated from Odessa High School and went on to earn her Medical Assistant certification in El Paso, Texas. She briefly worked in the healthcare field there before returning to West Texas, where her heart truly belonged. Settling back in Alpine, she pursued her nursing career further and earned her LVN certification from Sul Ross State University on August 18, 1990.

Throughout her career, Liz served the communities of the Big Bend region with unwavering dedication. She worked at Big Bend Regional Medical Center in Alpine and extended her care to rural clinics in Marfa and Presidio. Her career also took her to hospitals and nursing homes in the Odessa-Midland area before she eventually made San Angelo her home, continuing to serve others.

Caring for the elderly was not just a job for Liz, it was her calling. Her genuine compassion, kind soul, and loving nature left lasting impressions on countless patients and families. Even as a resident at the nursing facility in Ballinger, she spoke fondly of her days as a nurse, recalling the joy she found in serving others.

Liz's warmth extended far beyond the workplace. She had a vibrant spirit and a gift for finding joy in life’s smallest celebrations. Halloween was one of her favorite holidays, and she relished the opportunity to create imaginative costumes for her beloved son, Daniel, and for her nieces and nephew. She always joined in the fun, embodying the same playful excitement as the children she adored.

She was also known for her talents in the kitchen. Whether baking holiday cookies or preparing her signature southern comfort meals—like her perfectly crispy fried chicken or chicken-fried steak Liz cooked with heart. Mealtime with her was more than food; it was a cherished family tradition.

In addition to her culinary gifts, Liz was an artist at heart. She found joy in watercolor painting, creating delicate and beautiful works that will forever be treasured by her nieces as reminders of her creativity and gentle spirit.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved son, Daniel Pineda, whose memory she carried with her always.

She is survived by her mother, Delia Granado Gallego of Midland, Texas; her sisters Nadine Mata of Sierra Vista, Arizona, and Margarita Aktas of Odessa, Texas; her brother Johnny Pineda of Fort Stockton, Texas; as well as 11 nieces, 6 nephews, and a host of extended family and friends who deeply loved her.

A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will be held on October 4, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fort Davis, Texas. The Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m. Her ashes will be laid to rest at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, where she will be reunited with her son in eternal peace.

Elizabeth Granado Pineda will be remembered for her nurturing soul, her infectious laughter, her artistic touch, and the unconditional love she gave to all who knew her. Her legacy of compassion and joy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
