Wingate, Texas

Deborah Lynn Thigpen, 73, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, at her home in Wingate, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 23, 1951, in El Paso, Texas, to Ollie David Sumners and Vera Myers, Deborah lived a life full of compassion, creativity, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear.

On March 13, 1975, Deborah married the love of her life, Don Thigpen, in Big Spring, Texas. Together, they built a strong, faith-filled home rooted in love and family. A devoted member of Wingate Baptist Church, Deborah’s deep faith guided her actions and inspired those around her. Her generous spirit shone through in her talents for sewing and crocheting, crafting beautiful pieces for loved ones and creating handmade toboggans for newborns, which she donated with heartfelt kindness. Her passion for jewelry and fashion reflected her vibrant personality, but her greatest joy was always her family, whom she cherished above all else.

Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie David and Vera Sumners, and her nephews, Jason Sumners and Robert Sumners. She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, survived by her beloved husband, Don Thigpen; her sons, Jeff Thigpen and his wife Angela, and Gary Thigpen; her daughter, Miranda Thigpen; and her brothers, Jerry Sumners and Ronny Sumners. Deborah’s pride and joy extended to her grandchildren: Jayden Thigpen and his wife Rebecca of Crowley, Texas; Jason Thigpen of Marble Falls, Texas; Zachary Thigpen and his wife Sidney of Lipan, Texas; Haley Fabela and her husband Benigno of Abilene, Texas; Kaitlyn Thigpen of Stanton, Texas; Dustin Dunham and his wife Lindsey of Grandview, Texas; and Hunter Barben and his wife Adrianna of Waco, Texas. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren, each carrying forward her warmth and kindness.
