David Brent Poindexter, 52, of San Angelo, Texas, went to his final resting place in Heaven on Friday, October 17, 2025.
He was born on Sunday, January 21, 1973, to David and Ollie Fay (Gann) Poindexter in San Angelo, Texas. On June 12, 1999, in San Angelo, he married the love of his life, Salina Sue Gomez, and they shared 26 love and faith-filled years together. Brent was a hardworking man, dedicated to making sure his son, Caleb, had the best life. His little family was everything to him, and he showed that by putting in 7-day work weeks to ensure that Salina, Caleb, and Bubba were taken care of. In his younger days, basketball was his game. As years went by he was known as a full blooded hillbilly down to the Copenhagen can in his back pocket living life with his outdoorsman spirit. He loved to fish, especially for crappie with his friend Snyder, and to bow hunt. Brent was also a deeply spiritual man, together Salina and Brent taught Religious Education at Holy Angels and served as faithful members at their parish.
He is preceded in death by his son, Mason David, his two daughters, Isabella Aurel and Sofia Sue, his parents David and Ollie Fay Poindexter, his maternal grandparents, Ruben “Sonny” Gann and Peggy Brown, and his paternal grandparents, Howard and Molly Poindexter.
Brent is survived by his wife of 26 years, Salina, his son Caleb Brent Poindexter, his beloved dog of 13 years, Bubba Brent, his sister Tracy Medrano and her husband Wayne, his sister Jaime Vance and her husband Mike, his mother and father in-law Josie and Robert Gomez Sr., his brother in-law Robert Gomez Jr., his brother and sister in-law Benjamin and Farrah Gomez, his niece Madison Melendez and her husband Alex, his niece Dana McWilliams and her husband John, his niece Megan Vasquez, his nieces Hunter and Hannah Gomez, his niece Kelcey Begnel and her husband Terence, his nieces Kamryn and Kirsten Gomez, and his bonus niece Peyton Wood and her husband Keegan, his nephew Zach Medrano, his nephew Lance Medrano and his wife Amanda, his nephews Devin and David Vasquez, his nephew Spencer and his wife Madison, and his nephew Matthew Gomez, his great nieces Vera, Ollie, and Reed, and his great nephews AJ, Briggs, Crawford, Ledger, Banks, Aiden, Christian, Kannon, and Sterling.
A rosary will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 6:00 pm at the chapel at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger, Texas. His Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 10:30 am at Holy Angels Catholic Church in San Angelo, Texas, with Very Rev. Santiago Udayar celebrating. Interment will follow at Miles Cemetery in Miles, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation in Brent’s honor, or a charity of choice.
