Danny Wade McCall, 60, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away on November 5, 2025. He was born in San Angelo, Texas, and spent his life surrounded by the people he loved most. Danny will be remembered for his kind heart, never-ending commentary, and remarkable ability to fix just about anything.
A graduate of Lake View High School, Class of 1984, Danny was a talented handyman, known as the one who could do it all — even coining the phrase, “Grandpa can fix anything.” Nearly everyone in the family has something in their home that Danny built, repaired, or restored, each piece a lasting reminder of his skill and generosity. He often had a project completed before “Granny” could even finish telling him it needed to be done.
Danny worked at Superior Services for more than 15 years with his brother and most recently served as Maintenance Director at the San Angelo State School, where his hard work and expertise earned him great respect from his coworkers and friends.
Danny kept everyone laughing and never lost an “argument”. He was a constant presence at his family’s sporting events, cheering from the sidelines with pride. He also loved following his favorite sports teams, often commiserating with his daughter about those Dallas “Cowgirls.” He loved rap music and break dancing to make his grandchildren laugh, and he was never seen without a cup of sweet tea or a Coke in hand.
His humor, stubborn streak, and love for life made every moment around him unforgettable.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Amber Hebert, and her husband, Brandon; his cherished grandchildren, Kaleigh, Conner, Kinsleigh, and Trey Woods; his parents, Betty and Jerry Lay; his brother, Greg McCall, and wife, Lavonne; and his sister, Stacy Gonzalez. He also leaves behind a special family friend, JB Farris.
Danny was a proud uncle to his niece Leddy Priddy and husband Matt, nephew Landon McCall and wife Kelci, and niece Britni Duarte and husband Matt, and his great-nieces and great-nephews — Finnley, Rhett, Rhynn, Sterling, Andi, Ava, and Owen. He also leaves behind numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his precious Granny Bill and great-niece, Tessa McCall.
A celebration of Danny’s life will be held at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger, Texas, on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 2:00 P.M., with Jordan Burrell officiating.
Beloved Son, Dad, Grandpa, and Bubba, Danny’s legacy of love, laughter, and craftsmanship will live on in the hearts and homes of all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Danny’s generous spirit by helping someone in need, lending a hand, or sharing kindness — just as Danny always did.
