Ballinger

D’Ann Marie McCord, 69, of Ballinger, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 15, 2026.

She was born on November 15, 1956, to Jimmie William McCord and JoAnn Deaton in San Angelo, Texas. D’Ann was a hard-working, no-nonsense kind of woman. Built on a strong work ethic and a can-do attitude, D’Ann was well known for her immaculate care of the Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger, Texas. She took pride in the countless hours and days of work she put in to ensure each gravesite was well cared for and meticulously maintained. D’Ann was also known for her laugh, her dry sense of humor, and had no problem telling you exactly how it was. She wasn’t a flowery person, but if she liked you, you knew it and she took good care of you. She never complained, even on the hottest days of summer, or when her body started to fail, if she wasn’t feeling well, you didn’t know it. She loved all animals, birds, and even bugs. Her favorite hobbies consisted of fishing, magnet fishing, arrowhead, rock, and bottle hunting.

D’Ann is preceded in death by her father Jimmie W. McCord and her mother JoAnn McCord. Grandparents James and Annie Haynes McCord and Willard and Totsie Ellis Deaton and sister Mary Sorrells.

She is survived by her son Steven Sanders and wife Amber of Abilene, and her brother Jimmy McCord and wife Sandra of Burnet Texas. Grandsons Briley and Brady Sanders and nieces and nephews Scott, Staci, Jimmy, Brandon and Matt, and several great nieces and nephews.

As was her final wish, D’Ann was cremated, and a private memorial service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Ballinger in D’Ann’s honor.

The family wishes to thank West Texas Hospice of San Angelo for great care, comfort and peace in her final days.
