Cordelia Flanagan was welcomed into this world on January 6, 1935, by Clyde J. and Evelyn (Stokes) Flangan and departed peacefully from this life on Friday, July 10, 2026. Having endured a lengthy battle with chronic illness, she now begins the adventure for which she had been preparing her entire life.
She graduated from Ballinger High School in 1952 and attended Tarleton College, where she met Loyd Gene Yocham. They were married on August 1, 1954, and shared many years together.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Clyde J. and Evelyn Flanagan, her husband, Loyd Gene Yocham; her brother Rodney Flanagan, and her brother-in-law Mac Yocham.
She is survived by her sons, Eddie (Valerie) Yocham, Matt (Sally) Yocham, and Howard (Dana) Yocham; her grandchildren, Eric, Mandy, Brittany, Blaine, Clayton, Emily, Yale, and Zane; her great-grandchildren; and her sisters-in-law, Carolyn Flanagan and Leta Yocham.
Cordelia accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and remained a faithful follower and member of the First Presbyterian Church throughout her life. She was a kindergarten teacher for 30 years and had a passion for educating children, encouraging them, and helping prepare them for life's challenges.
She cherished the Lord, her family, her friends, and riding around the ranch, where she never missed an opportunity to share her simple farm-girl wisdom and sense of humor. She understood that the most important words she would hear at the end of life's journey would be "Well done, good and faithful servant." We have no doubt those are the words that welcomed her home.
While we mourn her absence, we rejoice in her victory and share her belief that God's promise is true: "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." (Psalm 116:15).
Cordelia leaves behind a legacy of a life well lived and a faith steadfastly kept. She will always be missed, but we find comfort in knowing she is in the presence of her Lord and Savior, where she has found complete healing and eternal peace.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to her church family in Ballinger, the caring staff of the assisted living community in San Angelo that she called home for several years, and the many friends in Ballinger and beyond whose kindness and friendship were such a blessing to her life.
A private graveside service will be held at Old Runnels Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
