Clarence Gray

April 24, 1939 — June 1, 2023

Clarence Gray of San Angelo Texas passed away at home on June 1, 2023, surrounded by family. He was born April 24, 1939, in Telegraph Texas to William Mack Gray and Hattie Kay Hensley. At the time of his passing Clarence was a retired LCDC who worked over 20 years with the Tom Green County Residential Treatment Center. He was also a Lieutenant with the Texas Department of Corrections for 13 years and worked many years in the West Texas oilfield. He had an Associate’s and Master’s degree in Criminal Justice.

Clarence was in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1962 where he was a Radioman and he traveled to many foreign locations including Guam, China, and Hawaii to name a few. He told many stories of his Navy times to his family.

His hobbies were fishing, arrowhead hunting, and metal detecting. He was known to carry a pocketknife everywhere he went. He loved to read about and watch stories on treasure hunting and anything to do with history. He was blessed enough in 2005 to take a trip to Gettysburg and walk in the footsteps of his great grandfather, Beverley Spain Gray, where he fought in the civil war.

He is survived by his children, William Thomas Gray, Robert Clifton Osgood (Wife Rebecca Osgood) Kimberley Sue Gray, Christina Robin Gray. His grandchildren are Michael New (Fiancé Anna Ramsey), Skye Parsons (Wife Duanghatai Nam Parsons), Xavier Gray, Amadeus Gray (Wife Marie Gray), Michael Dooley (Wife Katlynn McWilliams Dooley) Laura (Dooley) Tucker (Husband Michael Tucker), Elizabeth Dodson, Ryan Huser, Jennifer Englert (Husband Cory Englert), Elizabeth Fain (Husband Nathan Fain), and Sara Grace Osgood. His great-grandchildren are Nitan Parsons, Bella Mali Parsons, Aiden Natee Parsons, Josephine Gray, Tyler Criger, Kayden Dooley, Camden Dooley, Taelyn Dooley, Kinleigh Ramsey, Hudson Ramsey, Tate Ramsey, Curtis Austin, Payton Englert, Leann Fain, and Schelby Fain.

He is survived by his brother Bobby Joe Gray from Winters, Tx. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and siblings Monroe Gray, William Gray, C.A. Gray, Franklin Gray, Tommie Gray, Billy Joe Gray, Herschel Gray, and Mary Lee Tinney, He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be a time of visitation on Monday, June 5, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Lange Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 10:00 am at Lange Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Old Runnels Cemetery.

There must be a joyous family reunion going on in Heaven, we will miss you, Daddy!
