Charles Patrick Frerich, of Rowena, Texas, passed away on April 1, 2026, at the age of 68.
Charles was born on August 1, 1957, to Arnold and Alice Frerich. On February 19, 1977, he married the love of his life, Linda Halfmann-Frerich, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Frerich. He is also survived by his children, Patrick Frerich and wife Wendy, Adam Frerich and wife Amanda, and Trisha Hunter and husband Jeff. His mother, Alice Frerich; his brother, John Frerich, and wife Paula; his sister, Maxine Michalewicz and husband Clifton; and his brother-in-law, Donnie Halfmann. All of Uncle Charles’s special nieces and nephews.
Charles was a proud PawPaw to Isabella Frerich, Ty Frerich, Oliver Frerich, Eve Frerich, Carson Hunter, and Easton Hunter. His greatest joy in life was following his grandchildren to their activities and supporting them in all they did.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Frerich; his mother-in-law, Genevieve Halfmann; and his father-in-law, Leonard Halfmann.
Charles dedicated many years of service working with the Natural Resource Conservation Service and received several awards over the past 30 years. An equipment operator at Buddy’s Plant Plus. Served on the Ballinger ISD School Board for 23 years. He was also involved with the Earthmoving Contractors Association of Texas. He had a true passion for operating heavy equipment and “playing in the dirt”, a job he genuinely loved.
A man of deep faith, Charles was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena. He served the Lord in many ways, including as a member of the Knights of Columbus and the St. Joseph Choir, and a CCD coordinator. Charles also served as a volunteer firefighter with the Rowena Volunteer Fire Department. He was a good and faithful servant to God.
Charles will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his devotion to his family, and his unwavering faith. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication that will live on through all who knew him.
A rosary for Charles will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026, at 6:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena, Texas led by Deacon Alan Pelzel. His Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 10:00 am also at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Ariel celebrating and Father Bhaskar Morgudi concelebrating. Interment will follow at St Joseph Catholic Church.
