She was also preceded in death by brother-in-law Wilburn and wife Ruby Dell Pelzel, brother-in-law Bill and wife Doris Ann Pelzel, brother-in-law James and wife Marcie Pelzel and brother-in-law Calvin and wife Mary Ann Pelzel.
She is survived by son Joe and wife Susan Pelzel of Forney, TX, and brother-in-law Fred and wife Nancy Pelzel of San Angelo
The loss of “Meme Carol” is also shared by granddaughter Fallon Allison of San Angelo, grandson Spencer and wife Elizabeth Pelzel of Rowlett, TX, grandson Reid Pelzel of Ada, OK, and most recently, great granddaughter Emilia Pelzel of Rowlett, TX. The loss will also be felt by numerous beloved nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews from her Pelzel and Bartz families. She will be greatly missed as she was greatly loved.
Carol was born into ranching in West Texas. She went to school in San Angelo and shortly afterwards met the love of her life Dennis Pelzel of San Angelo. They were married on November 9, 1957. She was successful in working in banking at San Angelo National Bank and San Angelo Savings. Her proudest and favorite memories were with the relationships she made while working for over 30 years with the San Angelo Independent School District. She truly enjoyed working in administration, but her true love was all “her kids” and coworkers for the many years she worked at “The Office” at Central High School.
Throughout her life, Carol shared many memories with those around her. She loved travel, supporting others through the Lions Club, tending her flowers and garden, being a talented seamstress and quilter, and dancing with and entertaining everyone around her. But most of all, what shone through Carol, was her undaunting love for her family and friends. Through it all, in sickness and in health, she was full of joy and grace and never faulted in letting her constant “spunkiness” shine through.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to her dedicated caregivers at Central Texas Nursing and Rehabilitation and Ballinger Hospice in Ballinger, TX, for their unending care, compassion, and professionalism.
In lieu of flowers, please hug your babies, share some memories, plant some flowers, call a friend, and/or consider a donation to the Catholic Charities or the charity of your choice.
