With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Anthony Miguel Leija, 33, of Ballinger, Texas, who left us on September 6, 2025.
He was born on June 9, 1992, in Brown County to Esiquel Leija Jr. and Terry Vasquez. Anthony was a free spirit, a hardworking man, and a loving father with the biggest heart.
Anthony was a man of God who wore his faith proudly and lived by it every day. He was never afraid to speak his mind, and his blunt honesty was one of the many things that made him so loved by his family and friends. His love for his children was immeasurable; he prioritized them, always striving to instill in them the importance of working hard, never giving up, and always aiming for excellence.
He had a passion for life and loved to live it to the fullest. Whether he was welding, fishing, or spending time at the lake with his kids, Anthony was happiest when surrounded by his family. He enjoyed the simple joys, like playing board games and card games with his children, cheering on his daughters as they cheered, or watching football and cooking up his famous barbecue for those he loved.
His love for music knew no bounds-country, rap, rock, and worship music filled his home, providing the soundtrack to the many memories he made with his family. He always believed in the power of family trips, showing his children the beauty of the world beyond their home and instilling in them the desire to explore and see what life had to offer. Especially at the lake, if he had time off, the one place he wanted to be was on that water with his family.
As a man who overcame many challenges, Anthony's journey was one of resilience and determination. When he became the top welder for his boss, it was a proud moment in his life, a testament to how far he had come and how much he had achieved. He was proud of the life he and his wife, Alexandria, had built together, and even prouder of the family they had created.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother Margarita Luera.
Anthony is survived by his loving wife Alexandria, their children Isabella Addison Leija, Bryson Michael Malaer, Brayden Andre Leija, Elijah Jacob Vasquez, Jerrilynn Nichole Faith Leija, Alexander Miguel Leija, and Remy Renee Ann Vasquez. He is also survived by his mother Terry Vasquez, and his step-father Tomas Martinez who was a guiding light and inspiration for the man he grew up to be.
Anthony shocked everyone when he announced he would be marrying Alexandria. He always told everyone he would never get married, but as they spent more years together, he knew this woman would be all that him & his children could ever need. Boy was he right! He knew he was loved deeply be her through her actions and devotion to all the children. His biggest dream was to see his wife become a Registered Nurse, though he left a little soon to see it happen, we know he will be guiding her in the sky to make sure her dream is fulfilled in every way.
The family would like to thank everyone who has been praying for us and your kindness and grace during our hard time.
A memorial service to celebrate Anthony's life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request donations be made to his home in Anthony's memory.
In this time of grief, we take comfort in the knowledge that Anthony's legacy lives on through his family-the hard work, love, and lessons he imparted will continue to shape the lives of those who loved him.
He would want all to know & remember Roman's 8:28. For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
