Alice "Katie" Kate Ware

January 6, 1942 — March 29, 2021

Alice Kate Ware, 79, of Ballinger, passed away peacefully at her home with her loving husband at her side on Monday, March 29, 2021.

Katie was born on January 6, 1942, to Walter and Annie (Martin) Shows in Waynesboro, Mississippi.  After graduating from high school, she went on to attend college as part of her trade when she worked for Southwestern Bell, where she worked as a manager for over 25 years.  On November 2, 1996, she married Jerry Ware in San Angelo, Texas and together they shared 25 beautiful years.  Katie loved to keep things neat, especially her yard.  She also loved taking care of her sheep and goats.  Together, Katie and Jerry were also very beloved members of the Glory Road Cowboy Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Annie (Martin) Shows, her step-son Jerry Don Ware Jr., and two of her brothers, and two of her sisters.

Katie is survived by her husband Jerry, her step-daughter Angela Carter of San Angelo, grandson Coy Carter of San Angelo, her sisters Ruth and Melba, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Glory Road Cowboy Church in Katie’s honor.

A celebration of life will be held at Glory Road Cowboy Church at 2 pm in Ballinger on April 9, 2021, with Myron Halford officiating.

A special appreciation to Debbie Lemons and Joe Ann Perkins with hospice of Ballinger.
