Albert Keith “Stan” Stansbury, 81, of Ballinger TX passed away on November 4, 2018.
Born on December 1, 1936 in Pomeroy, Meigs County, OH, he was the only child of the late James Alden and Frances Leona Price Stansbury, both also born in Meigs County.
Keith is survived by his wife of 61 years, Georgia Ann Swanke Stansbury, and his four sons and respective spouses: Hunter and Bernadette Stansbury of Dallas TX; James and Monica Stansbury of Fort Worth TX; Rex Stansbury of San Angelo TX; and Shannon and Sandy Stansbury of Dallas TX. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by in-laws Jerry and Larry Brokaw of Mertzon TX as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a 1954 graduate of Pomeroy High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served for 20 years, primarily in the hospital corps. His service included stints in Vietnam, Korea and Okinawa. After his official retirement from the Armed Forces, Keith, Georgia and family moved to Ballinger TX after he accepted a position at Ballinger Memorial Hospital. In 1981, he accepted a position with the U.S. Postal Service and worked in the Ballinger post office for 14 years before his final retirement in 1995. He spent his later years enjoying hunting and fishing with family and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger on Wednesday, November 7th from 6:00pm - 7:00pm. Memorial services will be at LFH on Thursday, November 8th
at 11:00am
and followed by graveside remembrance in the Rose Hill Cemetery at 2:30pm in Merkel TX
. The family asks that memorials in Keith's name be made to either Ballinger Memorial Hospital or the Ballinger Healthcare and Rehab Center.
